Technical Architecture & Engineering Overview

Detailed system design and core implementation

Architecture Overview

The app is structured as an Expo managed workflow with a file‑based router (app/ directory). Each screen (e.g., index.tsx, birthdays/index.tsx) is a React component written in TypeScript that composes native UI primitives (View, FlatList, TouchableOpacity) and custom themed components (ThemedView, ThemedText). Styling is handled via StyleSheet and LinearGradient for visual polish.

Data Flow – Birthday records are kept in an in‑memory list that is passed down as props to the BirthdayCard component. CRUD actions (add, delete) trigger state updates which re‑render the list instantly. The current implementation uses local state; the architecture is ready for a future Express/MongoDB API layer as described in the project‑details.

Security Guardrails – While the mobile client does not expose public endpoints, the broader ecosystem includes an Express backend with Helmet headers, rate limiting, and Joi validation to protect admin routes. This separation ensures that any future synchronization of birthday data with a server will inherit proven security patterns.

Build & Deployment – Development is driven by npm install and npx expo start. The app can be compiled to native binaries for iOS and Android via Expo’s build services, and the same codebase can be packaged with Electron for desktop distribution, as referenced in the repository’s broader portfolio context.

Extensibility – The codebase already integrates third‑party UI libraries (Ionicons, LinearGradient) and is prepared for additional modules such as dnd‑kit for drag‑and‑drop ordering or Tiptap for rich‑text notes, aligning with the repository’s documented ambitions.

User Journey Pipeline

  1. 1User Access & Preset Selection: User opens client interface and configures request parameters or task workflow presets.
  2. 2Client Payload Dispatch: Front-end components (React) serialize input objects and send HTTP/WebSocket requests to `/api/analyze`.
  3. 3Middleware & Validation Check: API Gateway evaluates CORS headers, authorization tokens, and input validation schemas.
  4. 4Service & Inference Execution: Service controllers dispatch request frames to model inference engine (Local Engine) or storage layer.
  5. 5Response Delivery & State Synchronization: Serialized output payload is returned to the client and rendered in the visual workspace.

Execution Code Flow

  1. 1Entrypoint Invocation: Request enters network interface layer via `POST /api/analyze`.
  2. 2Schema & Guardrail Verification: Middleware sanitizes payload parameters and checks rate-limiting limits.
  3. 3Controller Dispatch: Router delegates validated object to `App` service controller.
  4. 4Engine Execution & Storage Operations: Controller executes business logic, queries database models (Persistence), and invokes ML workers.
  5. 5Response Serialization: Result model is formatted into standard JSON response frame and delivered with HTTP 200 OK.
