Technical Architecture & Engineering Overview
Detailed system design and core implementation
The backend is organized around Django apps: api defines core user and token models, while technical_test encapsulates the domain‑specific entities such as Question, TestSession and TestSettings. Migrations (0001_initial.py) create the necessary tables with fields like skill, yoe, question_text, and JSON blobs for dynamic questions and answers. The use of models.JSONField enables flexible storage of variable‑length test data without schema changes, supporting adaptive test generation.
Data flow begins when a logged‑in candidate initiates a test via the React route /attempt-tech-test. The frontend fetches a question set through a GET request to the Question endpoint, stores the payload in component state, and posts user responses to the TestSession endpoint. The backend timestamps the session (start_time, end_time), computes a score, and persists the result for later retrieval on the TechnicalTestResultPage.
Security guardrails are enforced at the model level: the User model stores hashed passwords (assumed via Django's auth system) and the Token model tracks one‑time use tokens with expiration timestamps. Access control is expected to be handled by Django's permission framework, limiting CRUD operations on Question and User to admin users only.
The frontend uses React Router to define a hierarchy of routes under a DashboardLayout, separating public pages (TeamPage, CommunityPage) from authenticated sections (DashboardHome, TechnicalTestPage). TailwindCSS utilities provide a responsive UI without additional CSS frameworks, and ESLint ensures code quality across the TypeScript/JavaScript codebase.
Build topology leverages Vercel's serverless functions for the Django API (via a custom serverless adapter) and static asset hosting for the React bundle. This results in a low‑maintenance deployment pipeline where code pushes trigger automatic builds and previews.

User Journey Pipeline
- 1User Access & Preset Selection: User opens client interface and configures request parameters or task workflow presets.
- 2Client Payload Dispatch: Front-end components (React, TailwindCSS) serialize input objects and send HTTP/WebSocket requests to `/api/analyze`.
- 3Middleware & Validation Check: API Gateway evaluates CORS headers, authorization tokens, and input validation schemas.
- 4Service & Inference Execution: Service controllers dispatch request frames to model inference engine (Gemini AI) or storage layer.
- 5Response Delivery & State Synchronization: Serialized output payload is returned to the client and rendered in the visual workspace.
Execution Code Flow
- 1Client or caller initiates request to application entrypoint
- 2Service layer delegates task to ML runtime or LLM API worker
- 3Application serializes JSON/audio/data response back to client
